Try to pass on a path. Before the beginning the game field is partially filled in with units. At first glance, the idea of the game may seem the same as Classic Tetris; to fill the horizontal lines of the game pits with the falling pieces. The more lines you fill, the higher the score. The falling figures may be made up of one, two or three little squares. Looks easy, right? But in this game there are two pits and you must maneuver two figures which move the same way! You can rotate or move the figures to the right and to the left but they will both make the same movement. And if the drop down of either figures is blocked, the second one will fall. So for your game to be successful you should plan carefully, or otherwise both pits will be quickly filled up. After you have dropped the figures down you can still move them to fill the empty spaces as they fall. If at least one new figure appearing at the top covers another figure that is already in pit, the game is over. As you can see, this is much more difficult than Classic Tetris. Below the line displaying the number of filled lines you will see your points for the current figures. Before a new pair of figures appears this number is added to your total score. The higher is the speed of the game, the higher the number. The faster you think, the more points you score. The game contains music, sound effects and photorealistic true color graphics.

Twintrix is heavily inspired by the Atari ST classic Klatrix, which is a mixture between Klax (Atari's attempt to steal the puzzle game crown from Tetris) and Tetris itself. It's also similar to countless other puzzle games like Columns.

The principle behind Twintrix is simple, connect rows of identical tiles to destroy them. The minimum length of a row is 3 tiles and they can be in any direction. Several rows can be destroyed at once, and when the remaining tiles fall down, new rows are often created causing further destruction and giving more and more score. The more tiles you destroy per move, the more you score.

Tiles fall down the screen in groups of 3, these can be shuffled into the required order then dropped onto the piles at the bottom of the screen. The next set of tiles is displayed; always a good idea to plan your next move before the current tiles fall home. The game is over if any tiles reach the top of the screen.

Twintrix is for 1 or 2 players. Players can play independently or Head-to-head. In head to head mode - the game is identical, except when you advance a level, you punish the other player with a fresh row of tiles that push their existing tiles up. Once a players game is over, the game continues for the other player so they can build on their score, but they can also start a single player game for themselves.

This version of Twintrix was developed in Play Basic (www.PlayBasic.com) and only requires DirectX 3.0 or above.

The gameplay revolves around the linking of four or more similar object in any random pattern. The objects to be linked together fall from the top of the playfield in rotatable 2x2 sets to land on either the bottom or on other already placed objects in the playfield.

This wouldn't be much of a problem if it weren't for the fact that objects fall in groups of four, arranged two by two. You can move the group of objects left and right, rotate the objects within the group and move the entire group down faster, should you have some sort of macabre death wish.

Of course the objects just wont hang around in mid-air, instead they are falling at an ever increasing speed, making it ever more difficult as you progress. The range of object which will fall down will also change during the game, starting with just four, ending at eight. All in all a challenge which will last for months on end, at least it was for me :).

Besides the all-important gameplay, X-Mess also boosts a nice introduction sequence, a presentation screen, seen here, and there are even cool game-over and hiscore screens featuring the same wild swinging and shaking animation which is present in all parts of the game.

Quality MIDI soundtracks are also available throughout the game and a selection of samples accompany the gameplay, adding to the enjoyment.

Most graphics were rendered and animated in true 3D, ensuring smooth and flawless motion. The game objects alone take up over one hundred frames and some of the major presentation graphics were also rendered.

Hiscores are saved to your hard disk and you can switch off the sound and music if you like.

On each round the fixed time is allocated. If for the allocated time you achieve the given value of the score, the new round is given you. The more number of a round, the more value of the score, which you should type for completion of a round. If all field is filled and there is no possibility to make a course, the game comes to an end.

At value of the counter of time to zero, the game comes to an end. The time is restored in the beginning of each new round. The score is carried on on a collection of results in all roundes.
